Fire weather is at a moderate level for the canyon. Winds are onshore (blowing from the ocean inland) at about 9 mph — this is the favorable direction because it moves fire away from developed areas, up into open space.
Humidity is at 42% — high enough that fine fuels (grass, twigs, chaparral) are less likely to ignite from a spark. The burn index of 21 is on the lower half of the scale.
Recommended today: normal outdoor activity. If you're doing any yard work involving power tools, chainsaws, weed whackers, or grinding — do it before 10 AM when humidity is highest, and keep water and a shovel handy.
